   It's with the Windows 98 version of notepad. So it's probably not a
Unicode problem.

   My X server is XFree 86 3.3.6 and I have a standard qwerty keyboard
(one with the windows keys as is unavoidable nowadays).
   I don't have much in my X86Config file:
Section "Keyboard"
    Protocol    "Standard"
EndSection

   I believe it uses Xkb since there is an 'XkbDisable' line which is
commented out.
   Note that I just did two more tests: on my laptop with a Win98
notepad and on my desktop with an NT notepad and had the same result
both times.
