Hello Winona Online Democracy,

Winona County has just unveiled it's web page. The web page is just in
stage one and much more will be added in the future.

The address is: www.co.winona.mn.us

Please check it out and let me know what you think of it.

The site could use a revamp with Section 508 guidelines of accessibility. This is a US govt spec that is fairly useful for ensuring handicapped individuals can use sites with minimal complications.

MSN should not be on the links page. It has nothing to do with Winona County at all.

Since I am commenting on County Business...
Why does the *County* need to pay for laptops for commissioners... there is this thing... it is called a paycheck. County Commissioners make something like 13k per year* plus meetings. Why not pony up and buy your own laptop and write it off on your taxes.** Considering every commissioner as I remember has an outside job this one time cost should not break anyone's bank. Kudos to Ward, and Voegeli for thinking about the other costs associated with buying a hardware and the fact that people pay taxes for community use items rather than personal enrichment expenses.

* please correct me if this is wrong
** I may be wrong on the ability to write off work expenses for a government job.

Did anyone at the crooked 'E' ever ask, " 'Why' is the 'E' in 'Enron' crooked?"
