A Special
Evening for Everyone Interested in Quality Schools
and Quality Schooling for Their Kids
Building and Maintaining Humane and Effective Schools:
Having Your Cake and Eating It, Too
with
Paul Bianchi
Tuesday, June 17, 7-8:30 p.m.
A public address / dialogue free and open to the public
at
Maxwell Leadership Center
8th and Johnson Streets
Winona State University Main Campus
It is an age-old question that all educators and all adults who care about children still are trying to answer: How can we have schools that both promote students' intellectual, social, and emotional development as well as nurture their souls?
Paul Bianchi will share his perspective from over 32 years of leadership at the Paideia School of Altlanta, Georgia, and interact with the audience regarding visions for schools in Minnesota at a time of more and more state prescription. For more background on this exceptional school go to www.paideiaschool.org
Paul Bianchi, M.A.T., is a rarity among school leaders, a person with a very short resume'. The founding headmaster of Atlanta's Paideia School in 1971, he has guided - and continues to guide -- the growth of that school from a small alternative school riding the tide of school reform from the 1960's to a vital, thriving school community of over 900 students and adults. Paul is married to developmental psychologist Barbara Dunbar and has three grown daughters.
A full day workshop to continue the discussion on this vital topic will be led by Paul Bianchi at the Maxwell Leadership Center on Wednesday, June 18,
from 9-3. On-site registration is available. The workshop is available for
1/2 s.h. graduate or undergraduate credit, or for a $45 workshop-only fee. (Note: anyone wishing to earn course credit must attend both Tuesday evening and all day Wednesday.). For further information, call 507-457-5335.
