[Winona Online Democracy] Greg & others,
Moving Community Education to Rollingstone in not logical and I believe illustrates the lack of public understanding of their programs, their customer base and their state mandate of life long learning for everyone. Those appointed to their advisory board need to hear the message that the public lacks understanding of what CE is all about. That is why I posted Woodbury's CE site http://www.cecool.com/ as it shows the diversity of programs for all ages. Those who don't take the time to visit the site try to put CE in Rollingstone for these types of programs thinking first of who are the most logical participants in the programs. Do the majority live in or near Rollingstone? Family gym time Aquatics Adult Enrichment including computer, crafts, fitness, finance, food, health Adult Woodworking Adult Basic Skills Aquatics Camps and Clinics After school programs grades 3-6 Middle School Athletics Pre School Readiness 3 1/2 - 5 years Online Learning Senior Center Activities Trips and Tours Summer Gifted & Talented Youth Community Education is not just ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) and even if it was would these "classes for parents and children birth to kindergarten providing parent education and family activities" be for those mostly living in Winona or Rollingstone. I think Winona. Like it or not it is not just housing them is a "space" It is locating them in a location that is convenient us the people who use their services and those who wish to sign up for their programs. Rollingstone doesn't cut it! Central does and Lincoln did. There are lots of people who think the whole idea of Community Education is a waste of money that should be used for K-12. "That is a different issue" and can only be addressed at the legislature since the rules, funding and mandate are driven by their creation of "Community Education". Paul Double From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, June 20, 2003 11:22 AM Rollingstone would be the logical choice. The building is set up perfectly for this program, and the income generated could pay the lease on the building. Currently they are forced to combine classrooms just to keep the doors open. Maybe this would satisfy Mr. Peterson and he could stop his relentless pursuit of closing Central or Madison.
