Will the Meet and Confer meeting be open to the public? If so, could you please give a time and location for the October meeting.

Scott and Others
The WAPS Meet and Confer committee (Representatives of Board members, administrators, and teachers) will be reviewing and revising the present district policy on Shared Decision Making which outlines the parameters for site team decisions. I saved all of the posts during the Bianchi exchange and will be sharing them with the members of the Meet and Confer Committee. Our first meeting will be October 30. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Steve (and list),
It seems that in my recent post I have inaccurately recalled your comments regarding site teams. As you've pointed out to me, your comments following the Bianchi presentation were limited to a single long post responding (insightfully I thought) to the points he made that might apply to our educational system here in Winona. When the conversation came up later about site teams as potential community-building tools, you apparently were silent. My memory of you "saying you weren't that well versed or even very interested" is apparently faulty, and I apologize wholeheartedly for including it in my post last night. Re-reading my post, it sounds like I'm taking a pot shot at you, which was not my intention.
That said, I'd still like to hear a response from you or any of the other Board members about site teams as vehicles for community access to building-level decisions. That's been documented as an intended goal of site-based decision-making. Do they live up to their potential? What are the barriers, and how could they be improved?
