[Winona Online Democracy]

Greetings,

I realize the rules allow for broad discretion on the part of the discussion
managers, but I would just like to say that I disagree with the moderators
shutting down a thread because it is becoming "heated". I feel that the
role of the moderators is to try and guide the discussion and make it more
constructive, not cut-off discussion.

If either Mr. Schild or I have violated rules of the list, then we should be
subject to sanctions by the moderators (and I would encourage them to do
so); but I do not think it is right to shut down a thread that meets the
criteria of appropriate subject matter for Winona Online Democracy because
one or more participants of the dialogue are not meeting the ideal notion of
constructive dialogue.

It is especially troubling, in this instance, since the topic involves
criticisms of WOD. If Mr. Schild has criticisms that he would like aired
before the list, he should have the opportunity to fully do so.

By ending this discussion now, WOD just opens itself up to further criticism
and acts counter to its own value of open dialogue.
