A couple of questions/comments come to mind.

>Unless I am wrong, the US Constitution prohibits Congress from enacting a pay increase for Congress which would take effect BEFORE the beginning of the next Congress, i.e., after the next election.
>Perhaps if it is not already in place such an ordinance should be considered for the City Council as well?
And to be fair, it would seem like a good policy for any elected body with the power to vote themeless a raise to follow.
