• Does anyone remember 'back when' the school board, the county commissioners and the city council members received no pay at all for their services?  There never was a shortage of concerned citizens to fill these boards.
  • The recent pay-hike is unfortunate, because it involves such a small amount that it really doesn't reward members anyway. It only serves to send a message that is unpopular.
  • Two other concerns: Why is the pay so different for different boards? And, when the pay amount starts to reach an amount that makes it "worth running for", (comparable to a part-time job, for example), how will we know the intention and motivation of a candidate?
