WOD Friends (and Moderators):
With discussion over the months about the tone of our posts on WOD - which I think has been successfully nudged into more respectful territory - I though you might be interested in the rules of another forum I participate in, connected to the NY Times Opinion pages.  Following is an excerpt from their "Welcome" message to new participants:

"This sign-up section of the NYTimes forum was created in response to
complaints about possible breaches of privacy, the overall negative tenor of posts and
personal attacks that distracted from a meaningful discussion. We assumed
that by asking to be on this forum, you possess a sense of civility and respect
for privacy that eludes some members of this conversation.

The rules here are strict: No personal attacks, no photos that emphasize your
argument, no obscenities, no guessing as to a person's mental capacity or the
need to use prescription medication.  One strike and you're out, without warning.

We realize that forums can be heated. We are simply telling you that if you
want to stay in the forum, you MUST treat each other with respect. If someone
baits you, do not respond. Email me instead: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Also
email me, with the direct link, when you believe another poster has made a
personal attack."
