On page 3A of the March 7th Winona Post, we have
the MN State Auditor Report of District 861 for the year 2003.
There is a section for 2003 Revenues with "amount"
per pupil. Adding the 8 figures, the total is $18,976.00.
Printed for "Total Revenues" at the base of the
column is this amount: $10,078.00.
That is a difference of $8,898.00 per pupil.
What figures are not included, or have been excluded?
Next is the section for 2003 Expenditures with
"amount" per pupil.
There was not a total provided in the
report. The 16 figures total $17,383.33.
According to the report, District 861 had 4,160
students in 2003.
Now, if we received $18,976.00 per pupil (as it
states) and multiply that by 4,160, we have $78,940.160.00 of
Revenue.
If our expenditures per pupil are $17,383.33 (as
indicated) and multiply that by 4,160, we spent $72,314,652.80.
That is a difference of well over 6 million dollars
(6,625,508.00) to the benefit of District 861
Is this Minnesota Office of the State Auditor
Report including or excluding some revenues or expenditures?
And, if we are not seeing complete Revenue and
complete Expenditure "per pupil" what good is it?
Just some thoughts from simple country-school
addition, subtraction and multiplication.
