[Winona Online Democracy]
Paul,
It is interesting that on one hand, you praise the parents of Ridgeway School, a small school that struggled to keep its doors open in the face of threatened board closing, and finally was chartered and on the other, seem to find it wrong for the district to try to keep buildings open. The buildings usually threatened with closure are very similar to Ridgeway in the respect of being small, and having an extremely tight knit, dedicated staff and parental and community commitment to the school's success. Since charter schools and district schools are both publicly funded (although with somewhat different mandates), why do you seem to view the two situations in different lights? Or am I misunderstanding you?
