[Winona Online Democracy]
**I agree with you on the issue of the wonderful old homes in Winona. It makes me very sad when I see them chopped up into student housing with the unsitely 'banners' hanging in the windows instead of drapes. One of the reasons I enjoy going on the Christmas tour or to estate sales is just to see in beauty inside these old homes. Nothing built today can begin to compare. And I have no doubt that the air tight new homes are leading to health related problems for people. My brother in law put an air exchanger in his newer home just for that reason, there was no fresh air in the home. As for the donuts! There is nothing to compare with a Bloedows donut. I grew up just down the road from Mr. Bloedow and he was the nicest man. He had a trout pond and would bring home bread from the store and let us feed the trout. Nice memories.
