My hope is that there is no governmental involvement in this project other than regulatory. I would be extremely interested in touring this boat (and paying a fee to do so) but I don't believe my wife or kids would have much interest. When the time comes to dry-dock this monster, sandblast and paint the hull, I don't want to be paying for it.

Be careful what you wish for---

November 10, 2004 Winona Daily News
"History center to start charging fees" "A museum spokeswomen said admission
fees are being added because the museum has had $5 million cut from its
state funding since 2001." The History Center is in St. Paul

November 11, 2004 Winona Daily News
"Officials at the Wisconsin Historical Society are considering whether to
close the organization's museum on Capitol Square as they look for ways to
cut costs" Madison, Wisconsin

November 14, 2004 Winona Daily New and St. Paul Pioneer Press
"No bidders for tugboat Lake Superior" The Duluth Entertainment Convention
Center put the retired vessel up for sale"

I hope the enthusiasm and the dedicated efforts of the promoters don't lead
us down a similar path and that the jobs created justify the land consumed.
