[Winona Online Democracy]

Linda, Kathy, and Bob and others,
Please note, my question was not related to annexation but
rather why do Townships still exist. Prior to good communication and
travel a local government in a small area made good sense. It is now as
easy to communicate and visit with anyone in the county as it used to be
in the township. A county government instead of a township performs the
same functions and more than a township and communication is no longer
an issue. Yes a County represents a larger group of people and your
voice then seems less likely to be heard, but beyond that I still wonder
- What does a township offer that a county does not, more effectively??
