[Winona Online Democracy] Two more things I forget to include earlier this morning.
I'll say this and then I'll be done for the day. ;-> ---- 11th Hour: 6. Teacher and staff concerns are being reduced to the 11th hour whining of malcontents who are never happy about anything. High School Principals, teachers, staff, and students were not shown the plan until 8 days ago. It is not us who are guilty of dropping 11th hour bombshells in others laps. The High School Principals and staff were not invited or included in this process. Can the School Board point to any specific proof that we were invited to offer input on this specific plan or any plan within the last year and a half? As best as I can tell, the only meeting within the last year and a half at the High School was the Relocation Commmittee meeting during the middle of the summer when the asbestos abatement work was being done. A time when teachers are not normally in the High School and a time when we were told to stay away from the building because of the health concerns during construction. Teachers and staff asked about the process but were told not to worry about it on two different occasions. Is that not accurate? --- 7. Misinformation: I've been accused of offering misinformation and only one side of the story. Don't shoot the messenger. If a person says the swiss cheese has holes in it, is it their fault for pointing out the holes? I've never claimed to have a corner on the truth. There are things I can't see and haven't been told about. If there are things I've said that are not accurate or are incomplete, please let me and the others know about it. I'm not trying to hide anything or to mislead people. On the contrary, I'm trying to help have an open and public conversation where holes can be plugged and questions answered. One of the beauties of local democracy is that we get to co-learn together. I know it takes more time and it must be frustrating at times for people in leadership positions but democracy is an on-going conversation. Somewhere in the discussions among the experts, technocrats, crackpots, fools (me included), and common smucks, good ideas emerge and we all learn as we go along.
