It took me a while also Mr. Perry to understand the rules and tone down my
comments, and though you may not believe it, they are toned down compared to a
year ago.. Think of it this way,
It is different if someone says "what you "did" was stupid" versus "you are
stupid". It is addressing the behavior vs the person themself. I don't think I
personally attacked Keith Nelson. Though Keith may feel differently.

I attacked his behavior and motives. I did not say he was a liar, I said the
information he put out to the public was misleading. I strongly stated my
opinion, that I think this was done intentionally, but I did not say he was a
scoundrel.

I never have an issue if a person attacks my motives or beliefs though I will
strongly defend them. I do have a issue with someone attacking me as a person,
my profession, my home or my children.

I have been on WOD off and on for about a year. I find it to be a great forum
to get opinions, views and information. Sometimes it is in the hottest moments
that you learn new information. People who are most passionate about an issue
are generally the ones who comment. Passion sometimes leads to strong
verbalizaion about a subject. There should be nothing wrong with that as long
as it is not a "personal attack" on a someone. Attacking what the City is
doing is different than attacking someone for where they live or because they
don't like to drive. This then becomes personal. My first posting on WOD I did
some name calling and personal attacking. I was called on it by the people who
monitor this forum. I could have walked away from it, but I decided I got some
benefit from the forum so still occasionally post, but watch often.

I do not know what the paper said as far as this forum goes, I missed that
article. But I saw a couple of editorials today. This forum is great for
educating and getting people to think out of the box and possibly change
approach and behavior. And sometimes it just acts as a means for people to
understand other persons opinion and that you may never be able to change that.
It also helps to look at the true range of public opinion vs public perception
and vice versa.

The city and I have been knocking heads for over a year now. They have their
ideas, I have mine. I don't dislike anyone of them personally, just
politicly. Change will never occur if people don't question behavior and
motive.

I believe that people can draw this line, others may not. Personally, Mr.
Perry, I hope you do not give up on WOD. I appreciate a stong character, it
can filter change. Some of the City Officials don't like the forum because
people often question their motives and behavior and they take it personally.
Being in a political position, they are in a profession that will always be
questioned it is the right of citizens. Just like it is the right of a patient
to question a doctor or nurse. Janice Turek
