[Winona Online Democracy] Good Morning America this morning compared our educational future with China and in particular the fact the within ten years most of the worlds engineering and scientific talent graduating from universities will be Chinese. Welcome to the real world!
Are we, in our effort to let kids do their thing, resigning their future to be big box managers or starving artists? What will it take for us to realize the long term consequence of our failure to prepare, provide and yes push them to be doctors, nurses, engineers, chemists and scientists? Will we also let them know that even bigger needs and opportunities may exist as Master carpenters, plumbers and electricians or will we wait to see Mexico create trade schools so that corporate immigration becomes the only way for them to fill the needs of our job market? When will we realize the ball is in our court now and unless some serious change is forthcoming we will see a growing country of spectators, not players, because we took the easy way out? What kind of reality check will wake us up to deal with solutions rather than sitting on the sidelines hoping for a return to days past?
