According to some of the research I've been reading - the current or forthcoming oil crisis is what it will take.

I've gotta go - to class - but I've read some great ideas about sticking our intellectual resources into 70 -100 miles a gallon, or an eventual near no-oil economy. Helping the environment, getting out of the middle east, creating millions of new and untold jobs, and to Paul's point tapping into the energy and intellect of our youth, who really want to help - but aren't excited about our current oil consumption economy.

A no or less oil economy could provide context to children and provide the motivation to clean our air, calm our international politics, strengthen our economy, etc., and our youth will better understand that it will take science, math, and the arts to accomplish this ... much like what happened 40 - 50 some years ago. Then it took an excited generation of youth top study math, science and the arts to get us to the moon.

A context for education helps provide a framework and a means to set universal and satisfying goals.
