One of the greatest positive outcomes of the WDN editorial today is that it will cause more people in our greater community to finally question what has been happening in our local public school system for years, as people like Linda Fort have long been trying to point out; The kids we're claiming to serve will be left to not only clean up a growing legacy of financial malfeasance, but also the growing resentment against our local public school system. Like it or not, Jerome Christianson raises valid points which took real courage (especially in this community) for a daily newspaper to point out.

 I would suggest two alternative options for the Board of Education;

1) Board Chair Laber, at a referendum Question and Answer session sponsored by the League of Women Voters, provided an answer to the ALC housing question. Chair Laber stated that the district could deliver a quality education to any and all our students IN A TENT if the staff is qualified. We already have highly educated and qualified teaching staff.
Build a tent to house the ALC.

2) The second most modern school in the district serves just 70 students and was built against the wishes of the District 861 voters. Move these ALC students into the other under utilized elementary buildings and the ALC into the Rollingstone building.

I see this ALC proposal and the IB proposal to be slaps in the faces of those who supported the latest referendum.

If the article in question (Winona Daily News, Sunday, 1/22/2006 by Jerome C.) is correct,then it appears that The Board is subversive, unanswerable, unconcerned with consensus, just plain out of control. What measures can taxpayers make to get them out of office before they do any more damage?
