[Winona Online Democracy]

Well, since our easy motoring life style depends so heavily on there being no disruption of world oil markets, I think we’ll be militarily engaged in the Middle East for the indefinite future. And with little prospect for our adventure concluding on a happy note anytime soon, maintaining a semblance of civil discourse on the war or national political topics is unlikely.

Anyway, if the Middle East oil spigot gets cut off in spite of our efforts, how we manage local governance will matter a lot more than who gets invited to White House dinners. Maybe we would even see an end to uncontested city council elections.

Dear Mr. Brooks,

That piece of propaganda you slipped onto this board that youlifted from the New York Times (which is the DailyLeftist Manifesto as far as I am concerned) Has ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS on this board. If you want to argue about national politics this is not the forum for it. However, feel free to email me personally if you would like a more reality based perspective on the premise you posted. Also, please refrain from quoting the NYT in the future, that paper has proven itself time and time again to be nothing but a skewered mouthpiece of the far left minority in this country.

Regards,
