Service Forums:
Primary Elections 2006 Update
NOTE THIS NOTICE IS ALSO GOING TO CO-SPONSORING ORGAINATIONS FOR
VOLUNTEERS - (MEDIA RELEASES LATER THIS WEEK)
Co-sponsoring organizations to date are: AAUW, (to be contacted Womens
Resource Center, Winona Area PTA Council and Winona On-Line Democracy). The
forums will follow the MN LWV state voter services guidelines for a
moderated educational forum.
All forums will be from 7:00 to 8:00 PM for primary election races: Winona
Area Public Schools, Winona County Commissioner 5th District, Winona County
Sheriff and Senate District 28. The location for all forums will be the
Council Chambers of the Winona City Hall, 4th and Lafayette Streets in
Winona. We ask that all volunteers arrive at 6:20 pm for instructions on
the order of the forum and to be ready for a live public access cable TV
broadcast. Radio and newspaper media are also invited to attend. There are
several tasks to do to be ready, like hanging up the posters for your
organization to acknowledge all the forum sponsors, setting up all the
chairs, checking the telephone line and putting out water for our candidates
at the Board table. We also need your help after the forum to replace items
and close City Hall.
Other Items Regarding the Forums:
THE WINONA LWV WILL PROVIDE THE MODERATORS FOR ALL FORUMS.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR EACH OF THE DATES. See the volunteers as know by
August 18, 2006. (If not filled by then calls will be made.)
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS: We welcome volunteers for more than one forum!!!
