PRIMARY CANDIDATES ALL PARTICIPATING IN LWV FORUM FOR WINONA AREA PUBLIC
SCHOOLS:  At-Large Candidates August 23, 2006


The League of Women Voters, Winona Unit is co-sponsoring a candidate forum
on August 23, 2006, with the American Association of University Women for
the Winona Area Public Schools                       At-Large Candidates.
All seven candidates have confirmed their intent to be present.

The LWV invites the public to participate in this forum.  Written questions
to the candidates will be generated from the audience in attendance.   The
primary candidate forum will be on Wednesday August 23, 2006 for the Winona
Area Public Schools.  The forum begins at 7:00 PM in the council chambers of
the Winona City Hall, 4th and Lafayette Streets in Winona.    The forum will
be broadcast live on public access cable TV Channels for Charter and HBCI.
Radio and newspaper media are also invited to attend.  During the televised
forum, a telephone line to call in questions will be available.

The two additional primary candidate forums are planned for the Minnesota
Legislative Senate District 28 primary Republican candidates on August 30,
2006 and the County 5th District Commissioner and Sheriff candidates on
September 6, 2006.  Watch for future media releases.

The League of Women Voters, Winona Unit, Women’s Resource Center of Winona,
the American Association of University Women, Winona Area PTA Council and
Winona On-Line Democracy encourage all voters to go and vote on the Primary
Election Day, September 12th, 2006.  Absentee ballot and or voter
registration information is available from the Winona County Auditors
Office, Winona County Government Center, and First Floor, at 177 Main
Street, Winona, MN.
