[Winona Online Democracy]

I would like to share information on an upcoming Forum that some may be interested in attending.  We certainly could use many knowledgeable and concerned citizens in the audience to assist with questions and join in the discussion.  Hope to see some of you there,                                         Susan Brown

  "Safer, More Compassionate World"

  Forum and Discussion - October 30, 2007

Call to ACTION:  A Community Forum on Building a Safer,

                    More Compassionate World

Join us in a Community Dialogue on addressing strategies for countering terrorism.  Your voice can be added to building safer communities in the world.

When:  Tuesday October 30, at 7:00 pm

Where: Winona City Hall Council Chambers.

Local cable companies (HBCI & CHARTER Government ACCESS Channels) will broadcast live.

Forum Moderator:  Vivian Jenkins Nelsen, Minnesota League of Women Voters Co-President

Panel Members:  Kevin Kearney, Neighborhood Watch, City of Winona Police Department; Dwayne Voegeli, Winona County Commissioner; Fatima Said, Director of Project FINE; Alex Hines, Director of the Inclusion and Diversity Office, Winona State University.

The panel will provide a worldview of actions that are local steps to counterterrorism.  Members of the audience are welcome to become involved in this dialogue during the questions and answers.  Following the one hour live Cable TV community broadcast, those present will be asked to respond to a short evaluation and share additional ideas for local action.  Come and add your voice.  The Winona Community can contribute to the efforts of counterterrorism beyond governmental policies and actions.
