Scott,

It all depends on how you design this upfront. Key factor about doing a
wireless LAN is doing a site survey or RF Prediction. You will be able to
continue to outsource this work but everyone must be trained on what ever
product you are looking at. What vendors are you currently evaluating? How
many clients will you be supporting? If you would like to talk further
please contact me and we can discuss further.

Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] Wireless Support Costs

We are at the very beginning stages of looking at installing a wireless
networks for our students. We are an urban commuter campus consisting of a
single building with 6 floors, of which we occupy 4 of them. My department
consists of myself (Director), a database administrator, and a help desk
analyst. Our network administration is outsourced to a consultant.

We have a domain that computers in our library and lab belong to that is
separate from our domain for faculty and staff. The student domain only has
access to the internet.

My question as we move forward is how much support does a wireless network
need in order to maintain it's uptime? Is it feasible to think that we can
continue to outsource our network administration after we add a wireless
infrastructure?
