We’ve got around 420 access points and usually have around 450 or so users online, with peak usage hitting around 675.  Our wireless network is on a separate VLAN that runs back to the core.  We generally pull 2 network lines for every AP installed since the labor is pretty much the same for pulling one, this gives you easy room to expand, or turn the other line into a really long console cable with some RS232-RJ45 adapters and save yourself a ladder climb.  We are currently running 802.11b and the up/down speeds are what you would expect from that standard, and we are beginning to look at putting out A/B/G APs so the performance should increase a good bit.

Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] Quick Wireless Survey

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to do a quick survey about wireless, if you have a minute your input would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Number of user on your Wireless network?
  2. Number of AP’s?
  3. What type of line do you have (i.e T1, T3)?
  4. How many lines do you have (Just for wireless)?
  5. What type of speed do you students get(both download and upload) just an average?

Thank you in advance,
