We had a AP2000/AP4000 installed base of 160-ish access points,
using Wavelink to manage them. Using 2 VLANs, each tied to a SSID
(one for institutional machines, and one that has traffic
restrictions for students and other "non-managed" machines) became
too much of a pain to manage.

We are replacing and expanding our AP count with the Trapeze-based
managed APs from Enterasys (decision to buy from Enterasys was
driven partly by our investment in Cabletron/Enterasys for wired
infrastructure).

The two systems co-existed fine, but the Enterasys solution is so
much easier to manage and more robust that we moved towards
replacing all Proxim APs in addition to building out our wireless
network only with new Enterasys gear.
