Lee, We have Paciolan (which was Ticket Master for a few years, then became Paciolan again) We use our regular wireless network and just push an additional SSID with WPA-PSK (their new devices support 802.11g and WPA2, their old ones only do 802.11b and WPA-TKIP) We use private static IP addresses, and have a Paciolan server on campus.
Initially everyone was afraid of having other SSIDs at the same time. It then became a big advantage since the concession people , athletics personnel etc... all use the Internet connected SSIDs for various reasons! As another person mentioned, using the regular infrastructure can also become useful to push to dedicated SSID to other areas of campus (theater and other venues that were not planned initially) using Aruba, we enable 802.11b rates just for that special SSID, otherwise 1 and 2 Mbps are not in use. We decided to create a special SSID for Ticket Master. Their only encryption requirement was WPA-TKIP. A peculiarity of their system was that they required bootp for the IP assignment of the handheld devices. This was troublesome in the beginning but we eventually made it work. We've been told they have plans to move to DHCP. Another issue that we ran into was on the days of the events. The artist's buses, over ten of them, were parked near one of the gates where tickets were being scanned, and they all had their own mobile WiFi hotspots. This caused significant interference with our WAPs. In the end, we ended up providing wireless to the buses. Are you running with Ticket master’s own WLAN as a competing wireless island alongside yours, or were you able to adapt your WLAN to accommodate a TM SSID and vlan?
