We have multiples of the following, AirMagnet Sensors, AirMagnet XT,
Cisco Specturm Expert (although we tend to not use this very often
anymore), AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer, Fluke Aircheck, Fluke INA WLAN,
Fluke Etherscope WLAN, multiple Linux apps like Kismet, Agilent
Spectrum Analyzer (120Hz - 6.8GHz), and a few others. Depending on what the scenario is I'll dispatch my team with specific tools of the above mentioned. I've been doing RF since 1997 and have developed a large subset of tools over the years and learned that it's good to have great tools in the tool belt but rarely does one size fit all circumstances. I would gladly welcome any discussion off list if anyone would want/need some suggestions/guidance/experiences/warnings/etc. Christopher Wieringa wrote:
What does everyone use for Wi-Fi troubleshooting and spectrum analysis? I've got some localized issues this year in the dorms that were not present in previous years that I need to get to the root cause of, and am thinking it is probably interference based. Therefore, I'm looking at purchasing something to do spectrum analysis with. I've been looking at getting Wi-Spy DBx with software, but have also had good luck in the past with Fluke products and am debating their AirMedic USB kit. Anyone have any suggestions?Chris Wieringa [email protected] Calvin College ********** Participation and subscription information for this EDUCAUSE Constituent Group discussion list can be found at http://www.educause.edu/groups/. --
