First of all, is this a bridge or a workgroup bridge ? They are totally different units. The workgroup bridge is a client that can only associate with an access point (or real bridge in access point mode). The Cisco literature says the workgroup bridge can only associate with a "Cisco access point", but this would have to be tried to be certain.
The last firmware I've downloaded for the _workgroup_ bridge_ was ver 865, consistent with your version. Biut if it's really a _bridge_, the current firmware is around ver 11 and your bridge really needs upgrading, see the Cisaco web site for instructions. Just be sure the process, once started, isn't interrupted. I don't know about the bridge, but in the case of the Cisco access point, non-root mode is a repeater, and the AP _must_ associate with another access point before anything else can associate with it. Non-root mode means there is no passing of packets between the radio and ethernet interfaces, only radio-radio.
