I can see the news bleepers, now...

Someone using his Cell phone during the commute up 880, this morning
causes a horrific 49 car pile up. Evidently the driver was watching a
pornographic Streaming Video during his commute, and for some reason
lost control of his car. Join us at 11 for more on this story,
including exclusive footage of what the driver was watching when he
caused this crash, Only on (insert favorite sensational TV news here).

Subject: [BAWUG] Little or no interest in 3G

According to the Financial Times of London, 40
percent of those surveyed have no interest in 3G
or the features it offers. 3G technology can provide
consumers with faster Internet connections, video
clips and color photos. However, mobile phone users
noted they primarily use their phones for basic voice
calls. Investors and mobile operators hope that the
Asian market will increase the appeal for 3G technology.

This is not surprising. So far, there are no compelling,
pervasive applications for wireless data, let alone
applications to justify the higher cost of the higher
bandwidth. The only high value apps that I know of
are in the business space and are low volume.
