The Linksys WUSB is really really poor when it comes to receive sensitivity.
Have you tried the range of your Netgear adapter? I know the Orinoco/Avaya
PCCARD will you get you much better range than the Linksys WUSB. Note that
if you have too long a cable from the WAP11 to the antenna, the cable either
gets fairly expensive or you get too much attenuation with a cheaper cable.
A small and fairly cheap patch antenna on the WUSB may improve things quite
a bit - it does require you to take the WUSB apart, but I hear it's doable.
