Have things changed since I worked with cable amplifiers? Normally power to them would be about 100VDC running down the cable to power each amp. This voltage would be supplied by the head end or the office that the cable terminates into. If there was an outage on the grid the UPS/batteries at the office would hold up the amps on the cable system.
