I would like to be able to do the following:
INTERNET--ADSL BRIDGE--RG1000-{ /\802.11/\ }-RG1000--PPPOE Linux Box
The left side RG-1000 would run Karlnet SEC client, the right one would
use AP-PLUS.
The best setup would be to bridge ethernet packets all the way from the
ADSL Bridge to the PPPoE SOHO Router, that way the public IP obtained via
PPPOE would be totally controlled on the far right side (Linux, Traffic
shaping etc.). If I understood correctly the AP-PLUS behavior the RG1000
on the right side would still be able to act as a normal AP for 802.11.
Of course I could put the Linux box on the ADSL side of the wireless link
and route with private IPs, but I would like to keep that side with the
least hardware possible. I won't have easy access to that side.
I have been able to make a PPPoE conexion from an 802.11 client bridged
through an AP conected to the ADSL Bridge. So I would suspect that adding
another bridge would'nt be a problem. However I have never looked at the
PPPoE protocol so any help/feedback would be apreciated.
Questions:
Will it work? Would you do it differently? How much would the karlnet
software cost to do this? Who can sell it? How secure would this setup be?
Would you do it differently?
Thanks.
