Jonathan

To reach a greater distance you need both better TX gain AND RX gain,
the max you can do for PtMP is 36dBm EIRP. Using something like our
200mW (new not on the site just yet :) and 8dBi omni will increase the
rage dramatically.

Some examples:

AP-2000 15dBm output, -82@11Mb plus range extender 5dBi about 1.5dBm
cable loss = 18.5dB total EIRP

Demarc 200mW AP 23dBm output, -91@11Mb plus 8Dbi omni about 1.8 cable
loss = 29.2db total EIRP

Not running the numbers thought the SOM cal using a standard 15dBm card
as a client: http://www.demarctech.com/techsupport/demarc-cals-som.html

At .5 miles the SOM with the Orinoco is 1.3dBm where The Demarc 200mW AP
will be have 12.2 SOM. Considering every 3dB doubles the power you can
see how this will increase the range of a system.

I you are using our 100mW cards on the client end your will increase the
distance even further! I want to point out the real magic in not
completely because of the output power but the RX levels!

We have customers lighting up local developments with one or two access
points, and with the 13dBi gain antennas and 100mW cards indoor with
good connections.
