Finally, a thread to dispell with scientific sense some of the perceived
threat of RadHaz (cool term, huh?) Great opportunities to sell products have
been provocated by less.

In my first sales job, during college, we had a 'sales trainer'. The first
lesson taught was that fear sells better than greed, perceived loss better
than perceived gain.

The other big lesson was if you want to sell a man something, sell it as
benefitting/protecting his wife. If you want to sell a LOT, sell it as
protecting his kids.

At a conference in SF a few years back, there was a product being sold, a
necklace medallion with a chip-looking thing and a fine copper wire coil,
supposed to protect you from all sorts of harmful EMF radiation. I actually
heard purchasers swearing they felt dramatically better immediately after
wearing it. The power of placebo? Well, it has sold MILLIONS:

The noise floor currently in the entire Bay Area at 2.4ghz alone is
astounding (footnote: Dan at last BAWUG meeting). We've lived our whole
lives under constant radiation exposure from the sun and all kinds of other
sources, and it's very reasonable and understandable to raise the health
questions and certainly to do all we can to improve our environment in
future. But fear is quick to cloud vision.

For fun, also see http://www.snopes.com/horrors/techno/cooked.htm and the
rest of that site to explore many urban myths. (Warning: very addictive
site!)
