I would agree with this. The low cost, low power, low received level
(VERY important) AP/bridges have very limited range. Most units we have
tested indoors are good for 50'-150' all depends on the building
construction with the linksys at the lower end.  The radio RX is going
to dramatically increase your distance as you don't have control over
the other end of the link if this is a hotspot system where the end user
is supply there own wireless card.

You might luck out with a BEFW11s4 and something like our 8dBi omni:
