I have attached a gif of my project. I am convinced this will work but since it is a huge amount of $ (for me), I am looking for lower cost alternatives.  In case the gif is not visible, the goal of this project is to provide a mobile access point to even more mobile clients.
Point A is an ethernet-to-wireless bridge (actually ADSL), then Point A has to make a line-of-sight wireless connection to Point B, which is at a barn with AC about 1000 meters away.  Point B then has to make a connection to Point C, the mobile access point, which is run by a twelve-volt battery and located wherever we are working that day.  Clients include a Ricoh i700 and up to 20 iPaqs running GPS and GIS.

The way I am thinking of doing this is to use three ORiNOCO AP-2000s and a variety of antennas.  But there must be more powerful and cheaper ways to do this.  Does anyone else have experience deploying mobile access points outdoors and at a distance?
