I think this is all the original poster was wanting. A very fast glance shows 4 drafts and one RFC that seem highly directed toward the kind of network the poster was envisioning. I plan on doing some reading tonight... :)

Yeah. They seem really similar but there are some differences too. Similarities: both are ad-hoc, both are wireless, both are hopefully self-configuring (well, w.r.t. CWN that's my opinion). Differences: CWNs are immobile, battery power is not an issue for CWNs. I'm not clear yet whether the manet work considers the question of directional antennas.
