I'm trying to receive my wireless 802.11b signal in a building 300 feet away through trees. At the location with the cable access, location "A", I have a Linksys Wireless Access Point Router, and a Linksys Wireless Signal Booster. At the remote location "B", I will have a Linksys WET11, or Linksys WAP11, to which I would like to attach a directional antenna aimed at "A". So far I have tested with my wireless laptop which can receive the signal outside, but not inside building "B".

I have a no-longer-being-used Dish Network Satellite TV antenna, still on the roof at "B". If redirected, could it be used in any way to receive my 802.11b signal?

I've read about Yagi antennas homemade from cans. Is the diameter of the can important, or only the length and placement of the wire extending into the can. Is it worth building vs. buying?

Thanks a lot for any advice/assistance.
