Also many of the newer windows have energy saving glazes/coatings that cause
more problems than leaded glass

on the window tip:
do you live in an older house stefan? i believe what would cause this loss
is 
that there is lead in the glass used in older homes' window panes. you can 
typicaly tell by the yellowing of the glass.

but, it could be something completely different.
