More power will make a big different but you also need to take in to consideration 
received levels. A high output radio with poor
receive levels is not going to do you much good. Also you need to look at the quality 
of the AP the system needs to be balanced for
this to work correctly.

This may seem like a very dumb question, but in real world application, ie SFLAN, how 
significant is power as a buying point for a
new card or device.

My card is 40mW, but there are 200mW cards now. I guess the meat of the question is, 
would having more power overcome issues like
distance or crappy cantenna design, or is 40mW plenty.
