The signal has an amplitude component as well as a quadrature (phase) component. (No, I don't want to get into the issues of the spreading code.) The amplifier needs to be linear over the entire output range including *peaks* which are much greater than the average power of the signal. If you overdrive the final amplifier it will compress (distort) the signal and probably increase the error rate. This is counter to what you hope to accomplish.

Another possibility is that under a high duty cycle (AP application) you may exceed the capability of the card to dissipate heat from the final amplifier too.

The Sveasoft code is completely open source.
IMO people shouldn't spread groundless FUD.

Actually, I think people were spreading well-grounded technical warnings.
