We (my .I.T. staff) are newbies to wireless networks, and we are trying to set up a point to multi-point connection with two Linksys WAP11's Ver. 2.8. We have set up the Bridge as "Point to Multi-point" with a static IP and the remote WAP's are "Bridge Client"'s with static IP's. They are all on the same ESSID. The MAC address set in the remote WAP's is the MAC address for the "Point to Multi-Point Bridge".
The Problem: When setting up the system with the WAP's in close proximity, we get reliable connection. When setting up in an industrial environment @ 100 feet apart ... we get intermittent or no connection ...although when we set up the (bridging) WAP to an "Access Point", all of our wireless devices reliably connect throughout the plant. Does the "Bridge" need a stronger antennae as opposed to a straight "Access Point"? Please give some guidance on where we are going wrong in this setup... ************************************** Kevin Clay MIS Manager, Corporate Systems/ Process Improvement Visioneering, Inc Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Phone # 586-293-1000 x207 Cell: 586-260-7760 Email my pager at [EMAIL PROTECTED] "If they ever come up with a swashbuckling school, I think one of the courses should be laughing, then jumping off something." - "A Deep Thought" ...
