Hi, Has anyone managed to get any other firmware on an SMC unit? Reason I ask is cause they were dirt cheap, $7.50 cdn here at a local store, but they don't seem to work with the local cable provider. The software does something funny so the cable company denies any packets from the units. I tried cloning my mac address to the wan port but that didn't help. It seems soon as i plug in the wan to the cable modem the lights on both the wan and wlan start blinking like crazy, they just freak out, which isn't normal. I know there is a flash utility, wondering if anyone has successfully flashed one of these units with some other ap's software... then maybe it would be useful.
