Hi All,

I work for AirMagnet, so feel free to take my statements with the
appropriate level of skepticism. Our analyzers identify Rogue Access
points using a variety of detection mechanisms, and we do support GPS.
The issue to keep in mind here is that the GPS unit is going to report
YOUR current location, not the GPS location of the rogue. To locate a
Rogue, it is actually much easier to use the Find Tool in our analyzer.
The application provides you with a list of Rogues along with their MAC
addresses. The Find Tool can then lock on to the MAC of the device you
want to find, and use the signal from that device to track its location,
much like a Geiger counter.

Hope this helps,

Wade Williamson

I found something relevant while cleaning out my collection heap:

This url goes to a list of white papers at Interlink Networks:

http://www.interlinknetworks.com/resource/wp5-1-1.htm

On that list is a link to "Detecting and Tracking Unauthorized WLAN
Access". This discusses using free, low cost and off-the-shelf
components to detect locate unauthorised users including AP's.

Registration is required to read the white papers on this site.

The direct link does not work, which is why it is not given here.

Apologies for the delay.
