They work well enough as CPE. As an AP they keep racking up to 65 users then stop passing anything higher then ICMP (wont pass 250 byte http but will 1500 icmp, tested with packet crafting and wireshark). Does not matter if wep, wpa, allow or deny list is used but 65 clients is the magic number. Once I got them working on my atheros AP's they settled down. They watchdog them selves every 24~48 hours and need a hard cycle once a week. Also they seam better if you back them off a few power settings.

Has anyone used this before? I normally use MT units everywhere, but I figured that I could save my customers money when they want to repeat to other buildings of theirs. Instead of setting up a 5 GHz AP with N-Streme and 5 GHz N-Streme clients, I'm looking at moving to 802.11g for everything. Someone suggested to me the High Gain 8186HP CPE and it looks like a good deal. What sort of mounting options does it have (can't tell from the pictures)? Normally I put up a UM and U-bolt it on, but my customer would like a flat-mount solution. ----- Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com -- WISPA Wireless List: [email protected] Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://lists.wispa.org/mailman/listinfo/wireless Archives: http://lists.wispa.org/pipermail/wireless/
