What your seeing is bluetooth. Its supposed to be pretty low power
and I would not think it would interfer seriously with your wireless
modem. There is no changing channels or anything on it. I bet when
you changed his wireless router channel you fixed the problem.

I have a 2.4 Canopy SM at my house and Wrt54GL wireless router set to
auto channel select. My Video game console connects via 802.11b/g to
my wireless router and has bluetooth controllers. I do not have any
problems with this setup.
