Hooked up properly, you should be able to put in as many as you want/have space for.
Can anyone share how to hook up batteries in parallel vs. series? Also, once you put in the SNMP card, you can tell it how many external batteries you have. This is a way of estimating how much runtime you will have. It's not accurate, because you're using different batteries than it expects. For 2 batteries, I enter in 4 external batteries for this value. It is as close as I've found you can get it.
