If you want to stay in the unlicensed spectrum, you could check out
the 24GHz range, it should be able to do 3 miles, not sure on the
dish size though. Dragonwave has a product in that range.

been well, but their
packet per seconds is a lot less than Alvarion B
gear at almost 40,000
compared to trango at around 10,000.
