I highly recommend Corning's Ez system. (no polishing needed). (That might
not be the exact name)

It is the easiest way to do it, and the most cost effective way to do it. It
is also very reliable to do it that way. The odds of a person making an
error polishing typical connectors is higher than the odds of the Ez crimp
not completing successfully and cleanly.

There are some drawbacks to the Corning Ez system, regarding outdoor
deployment. They don't make a metal or extreme temperature version of an FC
connector. They do however make a plastic water proof FC for typical outdoor
environments. They also do not include all the right size boots for
transitioning their FC connector to some types of typical all-exposed
outdoor type cable (meaning cable that does not require special breakout
termination or not inside conduit or NEMA boxes). They also make a extreme
temperature connector for all their other type conectors, such as LC, SC,
ST. There are standard methods for doing the transition from indoor to
outdoor, and doing outdoor terminations.

For all indoor use, I am not aware of any downside. It works great. To do
the Corning system, you need both Corning connectors and the Corning tools.
The one tool supports all connector types, with the exception that there is
a small insert for the tool (that needs purchased) for two of the connector
types.

We do almost all our jobs as LC. But take note that SC connectors are 25%
less expensive and the connector type that you should use really depends on
the gear you plan to connect. Recent Intel and Cisco uses LC, but SC is more
common in other brand gear, low priced gear, and used gear.
